Bot Chef is a product concept that brings cutting edge robotics to the home. Designed for collaboration, Bot Chef can help chop, stir, season, and cook the perfect meal through simple voice interactions.
As the lead industrial designer for Bot Chef, I worked with an interdisciplinary team of hardware and software engineers on multiple aspects of the project, including human-robot interaction, aesthetic form development, gripper mechanics, and colour/material/finish (CMF) definition. I created renderings, animations, and video assets for high-profile consumer trade shows such as IFA 2019 and CES 2020. I also designed and fabricated full-scale kitchen environments for concept iteration and testing.
AN EXTRA PAIR OF HANDS
Bot Chef is designed to work collaboratively with humans in the kitchen. It can read, understand, and assign tasks in recipes through natural language processing. Bot Chef is designed to use everyday kitchen tools and utensils. Sensors allow it to grasp handles firmly to stir or whisk, and also gently squeeze a bottle of sauce.
